South Congress Avenue is also known throughout the city for its block parties thrown on the first Thursday of each month. CommuteLocated just on the other side of Town Lake, South Congress residents could literally walk to work. If its raining or too hot to walk, the South Congress (SoCo) to downtown commute shouldn't take more than about 5 minutes. For students, the commute to UT campus should take more than 10 minutes. For students without a car, the university of Texas has a bus route that runs along South Congress Avenue.
