The Arboretum area of Austin is named for the upscale two-level shopping mall on Great Hills Drive. The popular Great Hills Golf Course also is nearby. Dozens of shops, including clothing, art galleries and boutiques are interspersed among the normal chain stores that are normally represented in upscale malls.

With a numerous homes in the $300,000 to $500,000 range, the Arboretum area is popular among professionals that want to be near downtown area jobs. The area is northwest of downtown Austin and has access to numerous highways for fast access to all areas of the city.

Many residents choose the Arboretum area to be near he J.J. Pickle Research Center of the University of Texas. Companies and government entities doing business and research at the Center include Applied Research Laboratories, Bureau of Economic Geology, and the Center for Energy and Environmental Resources.

Builders are constructing many new homes in the Arboretum area. Buyers have a great many choices for extended stay hotels or apartments while they wait for completion of their new homes. With condominiums also available, as well as golf course homes, this area of Austin offers all the best to homeowners.


Commute

The Arboretum to downtown commute is about 9 miles and should take around 15 minutes depending on traffic. Residents are able to avoid the dreaded I-35 highway and make the entire trip using the MoPac Expressway.
