About UT West Campus

The West Campus/University of Texas area of Austin has gradually been changing from student residences to those of professors, professionals and families. It is fast-growing and very diverse in types of homes. Zoning codes are mixed, and can change from block to block.

West Campus is known for great restaurants, such as the Hole in the Wall and the Shadow Saloon. There is also excellent shopping, libraries, museums and parks. The 42 acre Pease Park is part of the Shoal Creek Greenbelt and popular for all types of outdoor activites.

Though homes in the West Campus area average in the $200,000 to $300,000 range, there are some under $100,000 and some over $1 million. The diversity of construction is great, with apartments, single family, condos and townhomes.

If you enjoy the vibrancy of the college scene, but want quiet neighborhood living, the West Campus area is for you. Hole up with a good book on your backyard deck or go out for music and great food. It’s all right there in the West Campus neighborhoods. Though not an area for shopping malls, there are many wonderful shops, furniture stores, clothing and sporting goods outlets.

Commute

The West Campus to downtown commute is a quick five minute trip around or through the campus. West Campus resident can also quickly and easily get to the green belts, zilker park, and other outdoor recreation area.
