San Marcos sits in the center of beautiful Texas Hill Country, north of San Antonio and south of Austin. The proximity of those cities and their rapid growth contribute to a country lifestyle with city employment for many in San Marcos.

Due to its rural area, but proximity to large cities, there are many types of homes in all price ranges. In 2002, the population was approximately 42,000, but most predictions are for rapid growth to continue. With both San Antonio and Austin spreading outward, more commuters will find the San Marcos area to be their desired home base.

Commute

The commute from San Marcos to downtown Austin and San Antonio is all highway. With 30 miles to Austin and 45 to San Antonio, residents can get the big city easily.
