Does Austin have high property tax rates? Are they high compared to other big cities?I have heard the slogan don't buy real estate in texas, but is it really that bad?  | Property taxes are high in Austin, in excess of 2.5%, but bear in mind that you pay no income tax in Texas so this should mitigate your outgoings somewhat. Many cities in other states charge 1.5-2% which is considerably less. | Answered by ATR Admin on April 12, 2009: Profile
