Is Austin a good place to flip real estate?

Austin, like many cities across the US, has been hit by the downturn in the housing market. Although there are plenty of opportunities to buy cheap houses, sales are very slow. You may find a short term flip turning into a long-tern hold in the current depressed housing market.

I would say that Austin is a great place to flip real estate right now. Unlike the rest of the country that is struggling, the Austin market is on the rise as Californians and other overpriced markets start seeing he light. One of the things that has worked for me is to buy on the eastside, upgrade the bathroom and kitchen, and then put it back on the market. That said it does involve installing marble thresholds and granit countertops so you need to be handy (or know someone that is)
